The conclave to elect the next Pope begins today. I just wanted to offer the briefest of briefing thoughts. Mostly, I just wanted to ask all of you readers to say some prayers (extra prayers if you can) for the conclave. Pray that the cardinal-electors are open to the grace of the Holy Spirit to pick the best man to lead the Church. Pray as well for our dearly departed Pope Francis, for the repose of his soul. Pray also for the repose of the soul of our dearly departed Pope Benedict XVI. Pray for the entire Church. Pray for the reunification of the church, especially the repentance of heretics and schismatics.
Today is Wednesday, and so one would typically say the Glorious Mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary. And today is the perfect day for that. The First Glorious Mystery, the Resurrection of Our Lord, reminds us that death has no more sting. Christ died and rose from the dead so that we could die to our sin and rise to eternal life. The church doesn't just end with the death of the Pope. The Second Glorious Mystery, the Ascension of Our Lord into Heaven, reminds us that, as Christ promised us, he is with us always, even until the consummation of the world. The Third Glorious Mystery, The Descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, reminds us that each one of us is a temple of the Holy Spirit and has innumerable graces to draw upon if we are open to receiving them. God bless and protect the Church today and every day.
Each night, dad and I pray a rosary, a Holy Face Chaplet and the novena our pastor has given us to pray for our next papa!
We offered Mass for the Conclave this morning at my parish and have 12 hours of Adoration. Come, Holy Spirit, come!🙏🏼
